FREE monthly virtual talks lead by local experts

Annapolis Area Doulas is excited to invite you to a special series of free educational classes! Whether you are preparing for birth, in the thick of postpartum, or navigating your next chapter, these sessions are designed to support your whole self: body, mind, and relationships. These classes will be held virtually, with plenty of time for Q&A after each speaker.

Class Schedule & Guest Speakers:

August 14th, 2 pm: Jamie Schindler – Understanding the Pelvic Floor
Jamie is the Area Director for Rehab 2 Perform in Annapolis and Gambrills. She will provide practical information about pelvic floor health, recovery after birth, and when to seek professional support.
September 19th, 12 pm: Tara De Leone – Fitness for Pregnancy & Postpartum
Certified fitness instructor and owner of Tara De Leone Fitness, Tara will guide you through safe, effective exercises to support strength, recovery, and overall wellness during and after pregnancy.
October (date and time TBD): Shaina French – Pregnancy & Postpartum Intimacy
Certified Nurse Midwife with a specialization in sex medicine and sex counseling, Shaina will be discussing the biological, psychological and sociological influences on sexuality during pregnancy and postpartum. There will be myth-busting, trouncing of taboos, and the creation of a safe space to get curious about connecting with your wants and needs as you grow your family.

Private 3-Hour Childbirth Education Class

Our personalized childbirth education class is designed to prepare expectant parents for labor, birth, and the postpartum period. In just three hours, you’ll gain the confidence, knowledge, and skills to make informed decisions, advocate for your birth preferences, and approach childbirth feeling prepared and empowered. This class can be held in the comfort of your own home or virtually, depending on what works best for you.

This private class is customized to meet your specific needs, ensuring a supportive and informative experience. Choose between an in-home session or a virtual class—whichever suits you best!

2-Hour Communication, Comfort & Positions (Virtual)

Prepare to move! Join us as we discuss and employ various coping and comfort measures such as massage, positioning, counter pressure, rebozo technique, visualization and more in this hands on class!

Private Childbirth Education is available at an hourly rate. Choose your own focus for a class perfectly tailored to you and your preparation, within your comfortable environment!

HypnoBirthing®

Preparing for a calm birth? HypnoBirthing provides the missing link that allows women to use their natural instincts to bring about a safer, easier, more comfortable birthing. This evidence based class provides resources and a comprehensive class that covers the stages of labor and what to expect in addition to relaxation techniques to allow for a more comfortable experience. This is not just a method of childbirth, it will change the entire way you view birthing. You and your partner will enter this experience in a much more confident and prepared way.

Through relaxation, breathing, positive affirmations and visualizations you can release the fear and tensions that many women are bringing to their birth in our culture. We believe this fear and tension is the main cause of pain during labor. If you’re tense or afraid during labor, stress hormones are released which cause the fight-or-flight reaction. Hypnobirthing might counteract this process by preventing the release of stress hormones, which potentially reduces the pain of labor. This negative cycle is replaced with confidence, calm, and comfort.

Our Hypnobirthing course is taught in 4 class sessions;

Baby’s Here! Now What?

Baby’s Here! Now What? Is a dynamic hands on class packed full of information on how to make the transition to life with a newborn easier for the whole family. We feature topics such as feeding, sleep, soothing techniques, as well as health and safety.
